The Story Behind Stay Hidden

Hello, fellow Cultists! Liz here. Today, I’ll be diving into our game Stay Hidden and discussing the story behind it. But before I get to that, I wanted to mention that we have revamped the itch page to match the amazing thumbnail image our talented Art Lead, Ying, made. The story starts in a Victorian mansion in Dartford, London, just across the River Thames. The Hinchcliffe family are in a lovingly devoted Satanism cult. Granny Bev is the cult leader and rules over everyone in the family including Mama, Papa the Houskeepers and little Michael and Maddie. Michael, the oldest of the two children, thinks that at the ripe old age of nine, he should follow in his parents’ and grandparent’s footsteps and host a seance after stumbling upon a mysterious tome hidden among his parents' possessions.  As any curious little boy would, he rummaged through the book. Armed with candles, chalk, and herbs pilfered from the kitchen spice rack, he tried to summon himself a friend. But alas, he soon realised that satanism isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and after unleashing a demon, he left the creature to its own devices.

Back down in Hell lives a lovely little Demon, Zeelzebur, with his daughter. They were happily spending time together, eating lost souls, when a mysterious pentagram appeared above him and ripped him from his cosy comforts of the fiery depths of Hell. After waking up in a musty old Attic, Zeelzebur recoils at the sight of the grotesque child before him and runs away. Zeelzebur must sneak through every floor of the house, gathering items to perform a ritual that will damn him back to his home in Hell and reunite him with his daughter. It will not be easy, though; these cultists will not let a demon run rampant in their manor, risking all the secrets they hold nearest and dearest to them. They will do everything they can to stop him. Will you help this poor little demon get back home?
